Molly genus 4/02/10

Platy <  Molly

No. They are difference Genus. Further, they are different Species. They are just in the same Family.

(Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species)

So a molly is not a platy and visa versa. They cannot even interbreed.

Note: The Molly and Guppy can actually produce a cross, because they are in the same genus but different species, and closely related enough to produce the occasionally offspring. Even more common a Platy and a Swordtail can cross and produce offspring, again same genus and closely related species, but they are all still different fish.

Now, Goldfish are all the same species, just different mutations.
